Rate Stable Resource Allocation in OFDM Systems: From Water-filling to Queue-Balancing

چکیده

This paper considers the issue of optimal subcarrier allocation in OFDMA. We show, via a counter example, that water-filling based subcarrier allocation policies, contrary to conventional wisdom, fail to provide rate-stability for an otherwise stabilizable OFDMA system. Water-filling is too myopic when considering longtime average performance, e.g. delay, queue lengths, and even long-run throughput. This is because such policies ignore variable state (queue length) information, while, in fact, such an information is necessary to guarantee rate stability and/or to minimize average delay. In this paper, we identify a policy, based on maximum weighted matching and show that such a policy achieves %100 throughput for all admissible traffic.

An Effective Data Distribution using Resource Allocation in CR Networks through Balanced Queue

Cognitive Radio (CR) is an emerging technology for future wireless communication and technology. In the existing system, there is a multiple allocation over all the bands and also there is a crisis for spectrum availability, therefore a new approach for spectrum licensing is needed. Hence the optimal solution for the above case is cognitive radio. the resource-allocation problem in multihop CR ...

Resource Allocation in OFDMA Wireless Networks with Time-Varying Arrivals

This paper considers the issue of optimal subcarrier allocation in OFDMA wireless networks when the arrivals and channels are stochastic and time-varying. Our objective is to minimize the long-term average packet delay over multiple time epochs. We show by an example that water-filling-based subcarrier allocation policy which maximizes throughput at each time epoch is not optimal in this case. ...

Cross-layer Packet-dependant OFDM Scheduling Based on Proportional Fairness

This paper assumes each user has more than one queue, derives a new packet-dependant proportional fairness power allocation pattern based on the sum of weight capacity and the packet’s priority in users’ queues, and proposes 4 new cross-layer packet-dependant OFDM scheduling schemes based on proportional fairness for heterogeneous classes of traffic. Scenario 1, scenario 2 and scenario 3 lead r...
